We recently enjoyed a 3-night, 4-day holiday with Taj, and overall, it was a pleasant experience marked by great service and welcoming hospitality. A special mention to Mr. Ajay, who looked after our activities – he was fabulous and made sure everything was seamless. From the General Manager to the housekeeping staff, everyone greeted us warmly and made us feel truly valued as guests. The rooms were spacious, equipped with well-maintained bathrooms and bathtubs. However, being part of an older, renovated property, the interiors didn't quite give off the lavish feel typically expected from a Taj experience. The property could benefit from expanding its range of activities, and we believe the restaurant services also have scope for improvement. As Jain guests who had opted for the all-meals package, we were initially delighted with the delicious Jain meals prepared especially for us – and we extend our gratitude to the chef for that. However, on the second morning, we encountered a disheartening situation at the live breakfast counter. When one of our friends requested a dosa, we noticed the same staff member who was preparing omelets using the same oil in utensils to make dosas, following a canceled omelet order. This mix-up deeply impacted our trust, especially concerning our dietary preferences. Such incidents naturally raise concerns about cross-contamination, not just at the live counter but potentially in the kitchen as well. Thankfully, the Head Chef personally intervened, assured us of strict hygiene going forward, and personally took charge of preparing our meals for the remainder of our stay – which we truly appreciated. We’re not here to complain but to offer constructive feedback: we strongly recommend maintaining completely separate counters (or kitchens, if possible) for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, especially when catering to guests with specific dietary restrictions. We've stayed at properties in Chikmagalur that either had separate restaurants or entirely separate kitchens and staff for vegetarian and non-vegetarian preparations – this approach gave us tremendous confidence in the food being served. As loyal guests who deeply respect the Tata name and the trust it carries, we sincerely hope this suggestion is considered. We remain thankful for the warm hospitality and look forward to even better experiences in the future
